An unidentified firefighter describes why he chose to spend Sept. 11 climbing the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco.

Legend staff writer Jason Cinti reported on the annual Transamerica Pyramid stair climb, sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the American Lung Association. More than 200 firefighters, some from as far away as Reno, Nev., showed up to climb the 48-story building, many of them twice. Each firefighter wore a tag with the name and photo of a person who died in the 9/11 attacks.
