Despite a St. Agnes gym packed with hopeful Blues fans, the girls varsity volleyball team suffered a loss at the hands of the Drew Dragons on Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Urban’s first game of the preseason.

The games never strayed far out of the Blues’ reach, including one narrow 25-23 set loss.

“All of our spirits were roused and we all wanted to succeed,” said team member Alex Evnin (’14).

Urban Athletic Director Greg Angilly did not seem too rattled by the loss, tweeting after the game that the girls gave a “Solid showing for Urban.”

The girls will try for their first victory at Valley Christian High School on Sep. 4.
